The iPhone 6's 4.7-inch display sports a resolution of 1334x750p, while the iPhone 6 Plus's 5.5-inch display sports a resolution of 1920x1080p.<br /><br />Apple announced it has scrapped the 32GB variant with iPhone 6. It will come in 16, 64 and 128GB options. In the US market, where telecom carriers provide subsidies on smartphones, the two models iPhone 6 and 6 Plus — will be available for $199, $299 and $399 respectively, on a two-year contract. The iPhone 6 (unlocked version) starts at $649 while the iPhone 6 Plus (unlocked version) starts at $749.<br /><br />In the Indian market, the two iPhones will be launched in India on October 17, according to Apple's local website. There is no official word on pricing yet.<br /><br />According to Apple, the displays deliver higher contrast, dual‑domain pixels for more accurate colour at wider viewing angles and an improved polarizer.<br /><br />iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are the thinnest smartphones Apple has ever made. iPhone 5S and 5 are 7.6mm thick, but iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are even thinner at 6.8mm and 7.1mm respectively. These are, of course, not the thinnest smartphones globally, as that honour lies with Chinese Gionee's Elife S5.5 which has a thickness of 5.5mm.<br /><br />One thing that even Apple fanboys will admit openly and bitterly is their gripe with the iPhone battery. The good news is that battery life of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is relatively better than that of iPhone 5S. iPhone 6 will deliver 3G talk time of 14 hours and run 10 hours if the user is browsing the internet on 3G and 4G networks. The bigger model, iPhone 6 Plus, will offer 3G talk time of 24 hours and 12 hours of web browsing on 3G and 4G.<br /><br /><br />As rumoured, iPhone 6 Plus will be a $100 more expensive for each storage variant compared to iPhone 6. iPhone 5S will now cost $99 on a two-year contract, while iPhone 5C is free.<br /><br />Powered by the new A8 processor, iPhone 6 is up to 50% more energy efficient, so you can have higher sustained performance, claimed Apple.<br /><br />The 64-bit CPU architecture-based A8 processor is 20% faster in application processing and 50% faster in rendering graphics compared to its predecessor. It is able to sustain performance-intensive tasks like playing a game at higher frame rates.<br /><br />Apple also increased the pixel density of the two smartphones, with the smaller one having 38% more pixels at 1334x750p resolution and the bigger iPhone 6 Plus sporting 185% more pixels with screen resolution of 1920x1080p.<br /><br />Apple called the new display panels Retina HD, a "new generation" of iPhone screens. These LCD panels feature ion strengthened glass, but there was no word on the long-rumoured sapphire glass panel.<br /><br />The two iPhone 6 models sport an 8MP iSight camera that features phase detection. Despite no increase in camera resolution, iPhone 6 takes 43MP panorama photos. And like many rivals, including Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and S5, HTC One (M8) and LG G3, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for blur-free photos and videos.<br /><br />The new iPhones support landscape mode. That was higher than an estimate of $490 million by the WHO last week.<br /><br />Moving workers and supplies around the region has been made difficult by restrictions by some countries on air travel and landing rights as they try to control Ebola's spread.<br /><br />"We are working intensively with those governments to encourage them to commit to the movement of people and planes and at the same time deal with anxieties about the possibility of infection," Nabarro said.<br /><br />He said the president of Ghana has agreed to allow an airbridge, or route, through the country to affected regions to move people and supplies.<br /><br />Ivory Coast, which closed its borders with Liberia and Guinea last month, said on Tuesday it would open humanitarian and economic corridors to its two western neighbors.<br /><br /><br />Since Ebola was first detected in Congo in 1976, WHO has reported more than 20 outbreaks in Africa and 1,590 victims.<br /><br />The WHO warned last week that the Ebola epidemic in West Africa could infect more than 20,000 people and spread to 10 countries.<br /><br />Worries virus could mutate<br /><br />Dr Thomas Kenyon, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Centre for Global Health, said on Wednesday the outbreak was "spiralling out of control" and warned that the window of opportunity for controlling it was closing.<br /><br />"Guinea did show that with action, they brought it partially under control. But unfortunately it is back on the increase now," he told a conference call. "It's not under control anywhere."<br /><br />He warned that the longer the outbreak went uncontained, the greater the possibility the virus could mutate, making it more difficult to contain. While Ebola is transmitted in humans by contact with bodily fluids of the sick, suspected cases of airborne infection have been reported in monkeys in laboratories.<br /><br />A senior US official rebutted a call from global aid organization Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) for wealthy nations to deploy specialised biological disaster response teams to the region. MSF on Tuesday had warned that 800 more beds for Ebola patients were urgently needed in the Liberian capital Monrovia alone.<br /><br />"I don't think at this point deploying biological incident response teams is exactly what's needed," said Gayle Smith, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Development and Democracy on the National Security Council.<br /><br />She said the US government was focusing on rapidly increasing the number of Ebola treatment centers in affected countries, providing protective equipment, and training local staff. The SITE Intelligence Group, a US terrorism watchdog, first reported about the video's existence.<br /><br />The fighter who beheads Sotloff in the video called it retribution for Obama's continued airstrikes against the group in Iraq.<br /><br />"I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State ... despite our serious warnings," the fighter said.<br /><br />At the end of the video, he threatened to kill a third captive, a Briton, David Cathorne Haines.<br /><br />Sotloff's mother had pleaded for his release last week in a video directed at the Islamic State group.<br /><br />Addressing the leader of the Islamic State group by name, Shirley Sotloff said in a video her son was "an innocent journalist" who shouldn't pay for US government actions in the Middle East over which he has no control.<br /><br />White House press secretary Josh Earnest said he wasn't immediately aware of the purported Sotloff video and wasn't in a position to confirm its authenticity.<br /><br />"This is something that the administration has obviously been watching very carefully," Earnest said. "Our thoughts and prayers first and foremost are with Mr. Sotloff and Mr. Sotloff's family and those who worked with him."<br /><br />A man who answered a phone listed in the name of Sotloff's sister hung up when called by the AP.</span></div>
